Environmental expert examination starts by defining its purpose: court proceedings, a claim, negotiations, inspection of an object or a review. The purpose determines the questions, the documents required and the need for a site visit.

Typical work includes analysis of case materials, photographic records, the history of the object, possible sources of the impact, laboratory test reports and the link between the impact and its consequences.

If samples are needed, sampling locations, test parameters, packaging requirements and sample transfer arrangements are determined in advance. Errors at this stage can sharply reduce the evidentiary value of the results.

What to prepare for your enquiry

  • a description of the situation and the dates of events;
  • photographs, video, records and correspondence;
  • documents relating to the object or land parcel;
  • laboratory test reports, if already available;
  • court documents, if the dispute is already being heard.
